The Capstone Advertising Federation takes a trip each semester to give students a chance to learn and experience what the real advertising world has to offer. We also participate in the national AAF student conferences to learn about the most up-to-date advancements in our industry.
AdFed brought 12 people to visit agencies all around Nashville, TN. Despite some of us hitting a standstill in traffic before the Mercedes Benz plant, we made it right on time for our first agency: Bohan. Then we grabbed a late lunch and headed to Nissan Headquarters, where we met with leaders in their marketing department. This was the only non-agency, but it was so educational to see the corporate/client side of advertising. Thursday, we were up bright and early to visit Paramore where they gave us a fun pitching activity. Afterwards, we had some free time to explore Broadway in the daytime before heading to Red Pepper. They had a huge kitchen and mini-golf! Last stop of the day was Music Row where Foxfuel is located. We sat down with some creatives and they gave us a lot of great advice regarding the advertising industry. Friday morning, we visited our very last agency, Zehnder. We were fortunate to have an Alabama Alum speak with us. After that, we all headed home to Tuscaloosa to work on all the homework we put off during our trip! .

In the Fall of 2018 AdFed took a trip to San Jose, California. While in the Bay Area we toured three agencies; Mekanism, Goodby Silverstein & Partners, and Odysseus Arms. After touring agencies we spent the next two days participating in the AAF Student Conference. We learned about how each agency organizes themselves structurally and how they tackle different projects between different clients.
In the Spring of 2018 AdFed took a trip to Dallas, TX where we toured PepsiCo., Slingshot, The Richards Group, TracyLocke, Southwest Airlines and Saatchi & Saatchi. We had a blast getting to know these agencies and learning the difference between working for agencies and in-house firms.
In the Fall of 2017 AdFed took a trip to Chicago, IL. There we toured DigitasLBI, Golin and the Chicago Bears where we learned about sports advertising. We then attended the AAF Conference.
